The Office of the Dean of Students records contain correspondence, reports, minutes, scrapbooks, printed matter, and other records concerning the functions of the Office of the Dean of Students and the Office of the Dean of Women between 1924 and 1987. The records document various issues of student life; legal issues pertaining to college students; the code of student conduct; fraternities and sororities; athletics; and student organizations, especially Associated Women Students, Mortar Board, Women Off Campus, Student Government Association, Alpha Lambda Delta, and various sororities. The majority of the records concern the Office of the Dean of Women and issues of women college students. Major topics covered include the involvement of the Associated Women Students in the process of ending dorm regulations for women at LSU, the 1977-78 Iranian Revolution, materials from Freshman Days held in the 1930s and 1940s, the compliance of social and professional fraternities with Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and the impact of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.
